| I was raised in North Carolina and grew up in a community that challenged and nurtured my intellectual and spiritual life. After graduating from the Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia, I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies and Political Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I later received a Master of Divinity degree from Yale University and a Master of Arts in Anglican Studies from the Berkeley Divinity School at Yale in 1987 and was subsequently ordained as a priest in the Episcopal Church. I have worked in several parishes (two of which I was the first African-American priest) and independent schools, which has given me a broad exposure to people from diverse backgrounds and varied life experiences. Years later, I received a Master in Education degree from Harvard University in 1996 with a concentration in Administration, Planning and Social Policy. I love to travel and enjoy any opportunity to connect with people from other cultures. My journeys have taken me to Europe, Africa, the Middle East, North, Central and South America, Asia and the Caribbean. I have also led national workshops and trainings on diversity, equity and inclusion.
I am authorized to perform wedding ceremonies throughout the United States. I have broad experience in crafting and implementing weddings and other celebrations that reflect each couple’s personal needs and preferences. I also have extensive experience in planning weddings with couples from mixed religious or cultural backgrounds and have been successful in designing weddings for straight and LGBTQ couples alike. I look forward to working with you and planning your personalized and unique celebration! |
